Issues with Cambridge Audio AXA35

Setting up my new system today which is:

Cambridge Audio AXA35 amp
Audio Technica LP3 turntable
Q Acoustics 3030i speakers

Everything is connected but the sound is coming up very distorted. Have tried using multiple analogue/phono connections but still can’t get a decent sound. The speakers are fine.

Another odd issue with the amp is the sound controls seem to be the wrong way. Turning up actually turns it down.

Any suggestions on either?
