    O yes.

Spent some time at the weekend, digesting what all of you have said and playing around with my REL Q150E to find out a little more about it.

Its funny what you can hear when you listen. I turned my system up and had a good listen and did indeed realise that my un-educated ear was listening to distortion in some parts of my film. Turing the volume down produce back the nice bass will all like to hear, but just a few db up started to see the sub sound bad.

    Right. Resolution Time.

    1. Dont always listen to the mags - get adivce from guys that really know.
    2. Dont just go out and but without any real research before hand.
    3. Stop getting drunk on a Sunday night when I have to get into work by 7am. Err...perhaps this ones for a differnet forum.

So right, I am on my way to sell the two subs that I have. Would any of you very kind people recomend a selling price (ahem....£4.25 is not the answers I am looking for :) ) for the below subs.

    REL Q150E
    Def Tech ProSub 80

The combined money (and I dare say a little more) will be spent on a sub from your past and present advice.

Right. There we go - mistake was made, I learnt and agree with what has been said and I now want to buy a nice sub that doesnt distort.

Can anyone advise? And perhaps tell me where I can sell it all??!!

    Hi Brad

I´ve just sold my Q200 for 300 quid, it´s about 18 months old but mint condition, boxed etc. I would have thought the Q150 would be around the same amount.

Can´t comment on the Def Tech sub I´m afraid.

    Cheers

You can buy the 150 on the net for 385 delivered so £300 seems a little steep.

    maybe £250 - £275

In my experience as a rough guide 2nd hand hifi kit goes for around half price.

Ha !! And so you should you have ruined my life!!! :)

Not really Nic, you shouldn't. All the advice and help I have got on here has lead me to sell my equipment and upgrade a little! From what I hear M&K make some pretty good sub/sat systems and I auditioning a few of them on Saturday.

Looking forward to doing a little more reasearch then normal and getting a better and higher quailty system that I can afford with my money.

With respect to that, Nic, any comments on what I should be getting for around around £3,500 for a sub/sat system then please go ahead and advise.

Your help is always appreciated......even though you are cruel and nasty most of the time.
    :)

Don't get us confused. Nic is nice and polite, it's me that's cruel and nasty.

Only comment that I would make at this stage is if you have £3,500 to spare don't buy a sub sat system if you can help it as they tend to be compromises at the best of times.

Full range speakers plus a decent subwoofer tend to produce better sound. If you are talking M&K they are not full range but aren't really satellites either. You need a speaker that can go down to about 50Hz at least and the M&Ks fit the bill nicely.
