Is this necessary for this piece of kit?

i'm sure I could get it up and running, I will have 2 SDI sources with my Sky+ SDI and Panny RP82 SDI, and also have HDTV via DVI and HTPC via DVI or VGA to deal with.

Next year will surely bring HD-DVD or Blueray, Sky HD , AND the HS50 has HDMI issues..

    And how much?

Thanks for that- the overiding question is whether a DIY setup would look cosiderably better, and whether it would be wise to get someone who specialised in the specific scaler to do it .

I'll give Piers a call though.

What do owners think of the Crystallio itself?

The ISF calibration is not of the scaler but of the whole system. Getting one to one with the HS50 and calibrating the output of the scaler and display system itself will get you the most accurate image possible from your chosen display devices. Without doubt you could plug in your Crystalio and get a decent image, indeed probably a better one than not having it in situ at all. Proper calibration of the whole system will make it even better.

    Thanks for the replies

I've decided to get an ISF from Piers, as you say, he's round the corner and you never know, it might save me the cost of my next intended upgrade to a H78 or whatever
