    Hi

I've just received my IScan and have only just figured out that I can't use it with my Sony 930v component out as it doesn't accept the signal . . .

works with NTSC DVDs, but not PAL . . .

is this correct before I sell it ?!

    Cheers

    Chris

First thing I'd say is, if you do decide not to keep it, don't sell it!
DVDO offer a 30 day money back guarantee so just take it back to where you got it from and get your money back...

Have you spoke to DVDO tech support to double check it wont work?

You could also post a bit more info and maybe Dale Adams from DVDO will help??

Otherwise try posting on www.avsforum.com video processors forum as they have a dedicated iScan HD thread...

Hi, sorry, I was a bit brief !!

What I am trying to do is upscale the component output from my DVD player for display via DVI on my Panny AE500.

The problem I am getting is no image when using PAL discs, but NTSC material looks awesome.

I have contacted the mentioned, and am awaiting replies.

Was in a of a panic/stress this morning when it wasn't working !!

    Cheers

    Chris

The iScan HD definitely accepts a component Pal (576) signal in either interlaced or progressive so either you have a problem with your dvd player, cabling, faulty iScan HD, or most likely an incorrect setting on your iScan...

got to be a setting thing, I'm going through everything again now. As said, the picture is really good with NTSC, so the cabling is good.

I didn't know about the PAL via DVI problem !

Why not just try feeding the iScan with Pal from the dvd player and tell it to frame rate convert to 60Hz, if that works then its obviously the fact that the display can't handle the resolution you are trying to feed it at 50Hz, if it doesn't work then its a problem with the dvd player and iScan..

    working  :smashin:

    Many thanks to all !!

The PJ would take the 50 or 60HZ setting straight off the menu, but creeping up in the custom mode to 59.9, it synced !!!

Quality picture now, cheers guys !

Anyone after QED 5m component leads hehe

Over the standard component feed from the DVD player in progress (via QED leads) made an amazing transformation. Biggest improvement was the lack of noise via the DVI connection.

I also tried the Freeview box via SVHS feed in the iScan, and even this looked a whole lot better than the SHVS feed direct to PJ. TBH the difference is hard to describe, just looked a lot more solid.

I just got a Pioneer 868 but not the HDMI cable yet. So I compared the component feed straight to the PJ and via the iScan. The difference is still noticable, the iScan making the image much smoother and cinematic.

However, I haven't had a chance to try the Pio via HDMI-DVI yet - fingers crossed it will be good

The Pio blows away the Sony, nuff said. But it does cost roughly four time the price, so is expected. I let out a big sigh of relief when I first saw the PQ :)

my iScan is on Ebay . . . . so is the DVD player, lol

    Cheers

    Chris
