I assume the online aspect is all but dead now six months after release?

As a mainly one player game is it worth getting, I really liked the demo having not played the game for years but I don't want to waste £7.50 or whatever if it's really only designed for online and there's not much mileage in the game.

It is good, but it doesn't compare to the new DS version, which is a lot better IMO plus it's portable. I still like playing worms on the 360, full screen in lovely HD but there's one little issue which on occasion has totally ruined it for me. You can be in a cave, both of you reduced to 1 & an 'air'strike can be launched on you from within the cave. Totally unfair & if it's not fixed it has the potential to ruin every close game & the game itself. :thumbsdow

It's a bit of a shame that there aren't more weapons etc. but otherwise, it's a very good game indeed.

It's still quite easy to get a game, and people are still playing both ranked and player matches, so buy with confidence.

This is what ruined this version for me, not only the lack of varied weapons but the power tweaks that made most of the weapons worthless IMO:thumbsdow

It's ok for local or two player Live games but if you want to play three or four friends over Live I'd forget it, the servers are I never managed to play more than one of my friends at a time, really annoying they didn't fix this issue.

...it is however easy to found 3/4 random player/ranked games. Whenever I create a game I've got 3 or 4 ready within minutes & it loads up fine.

There was an update when I went on earlier. Wonder what that was for?

For solo players probably not worth it, only about 20 challenges to keep you busy and setting up games against the computer just isn't what it should be.

However, as a multiplayer both online and local its brilliant, especially good for local because you only need one gamepad (I think) and it doesn't involve a split screen! I still have no problems finding opponents online, I just wish more had bought the additional maps - I never get to play 'em!

agreed. I've got all the extra maps, and unless I play them in single player skirmish, I don't get to play them. If you limit your no of players to 2 players on live, your more likely to get someone with them, but if you have 4 people, then everyone needs to have the map, which is very unlikely.

So, stick to the free maps, and the included ones.
