I'm currently looking for a PS player (PAL and NTSC) and found this on my travels.

    http://***********/natx

    £75 !

Unfortunately I can't work out if it will do PS PAL. I suspect not and there's no mention of it on the web site - models numbers completely different of course

http://www.a-mw.com/ (looks like another chinese player)

    Anyone tried it ?

The Compacks 5000 available from Safeway did NTSC and PAL progressive scan and was £49.99. And the Compacks 4000 also does it, and has been spotted for £35. This was a machine with similar functionality to the 5000 but lacked the onboard Dolby Digital decoder (ie six phones on the back).

Neither player has received massive plaudits for its progressive scan playback. I think you do pay for what you get...

Mmm - as I'll be plugging it into a projector I think I'll probably pass on that then.

The Sony progressive scan players (I think it's the 930 and the 730) both get rave reviews for their picture quality.
