Is this possible (360 networking question)

A mate has his PC connected to the internet wirelessly, i.e. his wireless router is in the lounge and he has a wireless USB stick in his PC.

He is looking to buy a 360 that will sit close to his PC and he wants to connect to LIVE. Can he run an ethernet cable between the PC and the 360 so that the 360 shares the same internet connection, or will he have to buy the MS wireless adaptor (circa £55!!) to connect to his wireless modem?
