Hi guys!

So I have a HD7850 that a friend has passed onto me due to him having issues and I offered to see if I could get it working again.

The issue is as follows

  1. Plug the card in, don't see any visible damage. Cleaned off all dust.
  2. The card spins up fine, a bit noisy but not to bad.
  3. I load into windows and all seems fine, the graphics drivers are missing currently so it's using the crappy onboard ones on the GPU.
  4. I grab the latest drivers from the website start installing them and then BAM black screen, GPU fans still spinning but PC is completely unresponsive and I have to force it to reboot via the switch.

I have tried installing the drivers directly through the device manager and this has no difference at all. Is there anything anyone can think of that could be causing this or is it just a lost cause?

I had the exact same thing with MSi 780, they told me it was dead, and to send it in for RMA.
So i guess yours is probably also dead :(

Regards, jamie.
