    This one here

I am wanting to take apart my old desktop tower PC and transplant all the pasrts into a case that could slide into my equipment rack

Will be taking a P4 2.6GHz 1024 MB ram with a rad 9800 Pro, Creative Audigy 2 - 1 x DVD Drive and 2 X 160GB HDs - not sure what the technical term for the motherboard is but it takes up fair amount of the tower case

    Would this case be suitable

I guess I would also have to transplant across my PSU as well

Im looking for a nice looking case - ideally no more than £55

sounds like you have an atx board and that case is micro atx so it wont fit =( i cant really say what other cases to look for around the sort of money you want to spend but you need to be looking for atx if you want to use your current gear .. have you looked at the silverstone range of htpc cases some nice stuff there maybe streching your budget a little tho

I'm not sure why you think it is an ATX board. He only has a graphics card and sound card.

DuncanWardle, how many slots do you have on the board?

mATX has 3 PCI and an AGP.

3 PCI and 1 AGP is what I have - board is about 9" sqaure at a guess

Also - can Not have a case more than 170mm in height due to shelf space - which rules out this one here does the height of this take into account the feet - if it does I am fine if not im not

if I up my budget to £100 what could I get ?

You have to be careful with the height. You'll need one that takes full height cards or you will be looking for a new graphics and sound card!

I thought about buying this one here but it's too expensive for me and it may be too big for you.

    can not view that link

If 170MM of the thermaltek is with the feet I will be fine and everything will fit - if not I need another case - ideally looking for one with no pull down front panel but guess can not have everything

I have that one in silver and its great as long as you have a mATX board. My PCI slots house two Black Gold digital cards and a sound card. AGP slot has a graphics card, all you really need for a HTPC. Can really recommend xcase too as a good supplier.
