I picked up a Panasonic 65 EZ952b the other day and had intended to avoid checking on slides for banding. However, I noticed a vertical line in some content (it's not noticeable most of the time), so I had to check slides to be sure.

The TV was on offer as it was sold ex-display, although I was assured it had just been put on display and was free of any issues/image retention. So I'm not sure whether what I'm seeing is banding (I'm guessing it is) or some form of image retention. What do you guys think? And would you think this acceptable?

Thanks for the quick response. Not so far as I'm aware - I've only had it two days.

In case you weren't aware. The Power/Standby LED will also turn orange/amber whilst it's doing the compensation.

I wasn't. That's very useful to know though, thanks. Is there any way to tell when to expect it and at what intervals compensation will occur?

It's usually after every four hours of use and will kick in automatically when you put it into Standby.

I'd see how it pans out after it's done a few. Mine had a couple of light bands which were visible in some content (Tennis and Football) but they've now gone.

Personally, I'd avoid running the long manual compensation and stick to the auto ones.

That's reassuring to know that you had it to but then it went. The compensation should be running more or less every night then. I hope the band does go because, otherwise, I'm very impressed with the Panny.

I've got the 55 inch version and it's capable of some stunning images. It has better out of the box colour than my LG E7 (which is already rather good) and I think it's upscaling is also better. Both have their Pros and Cons but I rather like the Panasonic...:)
