Hi guys, my Samsung SP50L6HX will be here in a few weeks (ordered it the other day)

I would like to order a decent surge protector, so that I have it ready for when the TV gets here.

Is this belkin one okay for the job?

At nearly double your budget These are what I use. I have 2 of them for all my equipment and they offer an unlimited warrenty for anything plugged into them which gives me peace of mind
Belkin do a massive range of power protection products, and many of them are available on the above site. Have a look at them and decide on the level of cover you require and then get whatever suites you the best. IMO Belkin products are good value for money and do offer peace of mind that is well worth spending the extra money for.

I to have one of their surge protectors BoB, and although Ive never had cause to see it in action (I hope I never will lol) they certainly are well made and has proved very useful with the individual switches for each connection (on the model I have), as well as having the guarantee for replacing kit should it fail (proves their confidence in their kit). Id say one of these is essential for A/V kit anyway and you are buying into a well known manufacturer....ps if you want to check other versions first hand DIY stores have them in stock to.

Once your wallet gets over the shock of paying nearly £50 for an extension lead I'm sure you'll be very happy with the peace of mind these surge protectors offer

Off the top of my head (as I'm at work and can't measure one) I would guess them to be approx 40 x 15 x 5cm and built like a tank
If I remember I'll give accurate measurements tonight when I get home.

If I do get a surge in power is the device then dead and needs replacing or will it reset and be reusable.

If the surge is too powerful then on the Belkin units I use the protector will sacrifice itself to protect your equipment. Belkin will then replace the surge protector (and anything plugged into it that was damaged) free of charge.
I don't think any other of the Belkin protectors offer the same guarentee as this, but do still offer a fairly good level of protection.

I use 4 of the more expensive ones and they seem to do their job.
