I have been looking at a Sharp Aquos, as Richer Sounds have them for £1200 (http://www.sharp.co.uk/Product.aspx?ID=1065), and wonder if they are good screens? I'd mainly be using it for my Xbox 360 via component, and PS2/Xbox/DVD player through RGB scart.

What kind of quality can I expect? Are they decent for my purposes?

Sharp make some of the best LCD screens on the market today so, if you can get it for £1,200 then it must be at least worthy of consideration.

I note you say that you'll be using it with your Xbox, therefore I would strongly advise that you do stick with LCD and forget about plasma, due to the image retention problems with such screens.

    Cheers,

    Martin.

Really? I was led to believe that for under £2k you should be looking at LCD, with plasmas being better spec (and size) around and above that price mark?

You're right, dunno what came over Mr Pointy, who has a £2k HDTV plasma, very nice too. I would not touch a HD plasma for £1200, unless I cared nothing for image quality. If it's dummy for a showhome and you want the HD ready sticker to show, it might be great! The sharp is a good LCD, though I'm not a big fan of the larger sizes. See it run, see what you think.
