    hi there

i bought a sony KD32DX200 tv yesterday , and when on a black screen u can see a lighter grey area to the right of the screen, in some dark scenes it is visible too, is this a returnable/refundable fault?
    please say yes :(

    Hi,

I would say this is a fault and that you should be entitled to return the tv. I know if I had just taken delivery of a new tv which displayed this problem then I would be sending it straight back.

I can't imagine even the most incompetant tv repairman saying that the problem shown in your photograph falls within acceptable tolerances.

This could be the RGB set up not being correct. In the Manual set up menu you can adjust the size and horizontal picture position of sinals from RGB equipment.
Check out your handbook, and a least have a look at this feature, it may well solve your problem, as it did on my KV36FS76 and my Mother in laws Sony TV.

    thanks for the input guys

i have unplugged and removed everything else apart from the power lead into the tv and it is still there. also the option for rgb is greyed out.
I am very dissapointed with it any way so im just going to go for a refund and spend the next month or two looking at other tellys until i find one that does what i want.

    cheers

This TV has been setup incorrectly, I can't believe this got past the factory doors.

One setting in the service menu would fix this. You shouldn't have to deal with this so I'm glad you chose a refund. Although you could have gone for an exchange as I'm sure the replacement would not have this problem.

    hi

its going back saturday but im considering keeping the set now, as long as this gets sorted. ive watched a few films and had a bit of a tinker with the set since my troubles and it is much better. like u said about getting out the factory doors, this is a big set and to get it all the way home . time setting it up and then to find its faulty is annoying to say the least :D

    cheers

A good Sony engineer should know what to do.

Does it only occur in wide mode?

    it happens in every mode.
ive tried every possible setting even just the power cable plugged in and it still does it.
its from hi spek so i doubt if they will have any specialist engineers but you never know.
in all fairness to hi spek theyre customer services have been spot on up to now.

    cheers

Replacement is probably best if you can get it.

Although the amount of people having problems with their 3rd, 4th, 5th TV is a worry.

Maybe one of their people coming to fix it would be quicker.
