Is there such a thing as a good verstile DVD-R and especially Dual Layer out there?

I have never used a dual layer disc yet but was considering buying 50 or so now so thought I'd check to see if anyone on here had already done the hard work for me and could tell me the best and worst out there?
Also I have used many DVD-R and +R with virtual 100% success. The problems can be some DVD players or player/recorders may have an issue with the disc. Is there anyone who has found a really good all rounder out there?
I have usd Maxell, Phillips and Sony in the past.
Thanks for reading this :)

Use discs manufactured by Taiyo Yuden. They do sell under their own name but also under the Panasonic, Verbatim, Datasafe brands as well as some others. Try the SVP website. The site shows who the disc manufacturer is, make sure it is Taiyo Yuden.
