Is there an adaptor that will let me share the HDMI on my LCD? At some point I am going to have more than one source that needs to use the HDMI input.

    Is there such a thing?

Because they can get away with it, for the moment at least. It's like £60 HDMI cables, when you can get them here for £7.09+VAT. They see it as 'someone who's bought 2 HDMI sources and an HDTV must be loaded so let's keep the price high'.

HDMI switchers do require specialist ICs that can accept TMDS signals at high datarates. Shipped volumes of these need to increase some more to get past the initial "chicken or egg stage" ; in marketing terms they have to reach critical mass.
After that prices will drop and most displays will have more than 1 HDMI input.

I think you may be correct, I paid £50 for an HDMI cable and then found one came free with my new DVD player (albeit a flimsy looking thing). I've read the other replies about construction and volumes and I think you are correct about HDMI switchers too! :)
