I have very recently bought the RX-1700 and wonder if there is much difference between this and the DSP-AX861SE. I notice that there is lip syncing capability with the DSP-AX861SE, which I think might be useful, and it also has better upscaling (I think).

    Any thoughts?

The 2 are not really comparable. The 861 is more advanced with its video scaling. However it shares the same audio output stage as the 659 and 661 models. Sonically, the 1700 is the better performer.

As far as I know, the audio delay is the same between the 2.
