    Is there an alternative to the pronto pro ???

    Can a palm running windows ce act as a remote with the right software???

    If so can any of um transmit with RF ???

    Yes, Plams can do the job but not very well. They don't have the IR range that a remote does. So, you have to go right up close to the item.

    Why not look at a Pronto/Marrantz RC5000 if you feel the Pronto Pro is not quite what you want (price?)

    The IR strength is possibly the most important feature of the Pronto. It means it works without fail, even when the equipment is behind you. There's nothing more frustrating than programming in macros, & then they don't work unless you swivel around to point the remote. It's just not convenient. (not to mention the sore neck!)
