    Hi,
I am about to replace my DVD player but am a bit concerned. In looking at possible replacements they all have a list of compatible discs. I have compiled a lot of DVD-RW discs of our children and various family events and am worried if I buy a new recorder will I be able to play them again as this type of disc is not featured on the list.

If you have a computer with DVD-RW drive, you should be able to back-up your own home DVDs to any type of DVD blank, and if they are precious doing so would be pertinent anyway as they generally don't last forever.

Are the DVDs recorded in VR or Video mode?
