    Hi,

I'm looking for a device that has a hard drive to store MP3 files, allow playback, and is accessible via a web based interface. Prefer something in full rack size if possible?

Anyone know of such a device?

    Cheers, Lee

    hi there
not too sure about ones with hard drives but
there is a pinnicle show center has no hard drive but wirelessly will connect to your pc and be able to play all the mp3, divx, dvds photos etc... through your amp and/or tv or plasma or can be wired using a network cable. philips also have a new one called the SL400i looks very stylish and does the same job. the pinnicle show center cost £129.99 from pc world and the philips again from pc world cost £229.99. not seen the philips one up and running but the pinnicle screen looks awesome but be sure to make sure thats it 56mps (802.11g)version and not the 11mbs (802.11b) because if you want to stream dvds at a later date the 11mbs will struggle.
    hope this helps
    regards

The nearest equivalent that works well is probably a Slim Devices Squeezebox or a Roku Soundbridge, combined with a host PC. Both come with companion software which runs on the PC and allows web-based access to the control interface.

    Hi guys,

    Thanks for the responses...

I'm not wanting to use a PC for the storage of the MP3's. I'm looking for a self contained unit, that you can control with a web interface.

I've done a bit of digging, but it appears that you can only get devices which stream. It's a gap in the market I think.

    Cheers, Lee

Hold on, hold on. There was a DIY thing like this... basically a case + gubbins in which you stick the drive of your choice. Let me look through my notes and get back to you. May take a while... I frequently get drowned in press releases :D

    Hi,

Does this have a web browser interface.

It's got a great look about it. Very qwerky. Not dissimilar to my small silver pedal bin in the toilet!!

I'll keep my eyes open for it appearing on the market.

    Cheers, Lee
