As it says in the title. I'm looking for a good box set of all the 4 films - preferably Region 2

I lived in Germany for six months and there was definitely one available there. I checked Amazon.de for you and found this:

    http://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00004Z384/qid=1072781753/sr=2-1/ref=sr_2_11_1/302-0924681-8863230

However, looking at it, this is not quite the same version that I saw (which had 1-3 as directors cuts) so whether these are the normal or directors cut versions, I'm not sure. Maybe someone who can speak better German than I could visit that link and comment?

This is an unrated Region One version , so again may or may not be the director's cut versions.

HMV were doing a box set a few months ago for £25 with all four films (directors cuts for 1-3). They are just the normal releases in a box though, rather than SE's (which I don;'t think have been done for these films).

    Hope this helps,

    Ian.

Thanks for the replies chaps. I'm just wondering if a super-duper box set is on the horizon - I would have thought they'd have milked these films for a few more special editions !

If you are multi-region enabled I would recommend the the R1 of LW4 as the UK version is cut to shreds. There are also some cuts from LW2 on the UK version. I have the R4 version of this and it is uncut.

Also the directors cuts of 1-3 R1 have a DTS soundtrack. I haven't heard these so I can't comment.

    Great film series.

I'd avoid the so called directors cuts as the extra material does not really improve any of the films. The material is all available as extras on the B side of the US R1 copy of LW4.

LW 1 & 3 are uncut in the UK. LW 2 & 4 are cut. A whole fight was removed from the second movie.

I recently watched all these again. The cheapest way of obtaining them would probably be via France from Amazon or some such outlet.

i got the directors cut Legacy box set from DVDSoon to watch over Christmas and it only came to about £18 for those 3. Of course if you haven't already got LW4 then thats not much help really is it!

Looks like I'll probably buy them separately then. I do have Multi-region capability so may get the Region 1 versions of the ones that are cut.
Knowing my luck though, as soon as I buy these a definitive box set will be released ;)
