Hi guys, got an S that I use to game and Watch 4k movies on, but my wallet is saying go and get an X, but my brain is saying, what you have is good enough.
Is it a worthy upgrade from an S to an X
    If so why?

    Cheers

Seriously though, every single games runs better on the X.

Whether it’s simply eradicated jaggies on older titles (even 360 ones) or full blown 60FPS in 4K with HDR on newer titles, it runs everything better than the One S can.

I just got the latest X version, and its ok, picture looks fine on my 4K HDR 65inch Samsung but not really blown me away over the original Xbox one tbh, loading times for games seems no different which is disappointing, thought it would be a lot faster, all things considered I am not sure if its a big upgrade from the S version

Play some Enhanced games on it for a month then go back to a standard One/One S. I promise you you’ll see a huge difference then!

I have been playing enhanced and HDR games, and it looks ok but in truth there is not a massive difference, the Xbox one X upscales all games even if not enhanced, my TV also upscales to as near HDR as possible maybe I expected to much, also the loading times not noticed any quicker.

It was never going to be a revolution as you’re still playing the same games on a TV that itself is upscaling the content it receives.

Agreed on the loading times but to be honest, we haven’t had a jump to SSD here so again the expectations have to be realistic.

Personally I notice the lack of jaggies and the smoother performance much more than the visuals, both of which are undeniably improved by quite some margin...

You want to see the differences that 4K and HDR bring then just try the Insects demo, that really opened my eyes and the loading times on certain games are massively improved (ie The Witcher 3)

The mind can play tricks on you as you could be sitting there happily playing an X Enhanced game and thinking "this doesn't look any different" but you just need to look at some of the screenshot comparisons of a game playing on an S vs X to see the difference is quite noticeable.

I had the original Xbox one, playing to my 4K HDR Samsung TV, which did a great job of upscaling the picture, So when I got the one X, I was really expecting to see an even better picture, in truth I did not notice much difference in the picture if any, even though playing the latest enhanced games in true 4K.
I actually timed the loading times of "Prey" which took ages, exactly the same, all in all I can see no benefit of this console to me, wasted my money, and I am an Xbox fan always have been, but so much hype over this new console, and in my opinion its not worth it, apart from being a little smaller and in built power supply thats about it.

So you ran the Insects demo and couldn’t see any difference between the 1080p and 4K modes?

Let’s not forget it’s not just about it being able to render in 4K it’s also all the extra bells and whistles it’s able to enable now due to the extra power not to mention for some games higher quality textures and 60fps modes which is a huge game changer more so than the resolution bump.

For me, the benefit is being able to play some games at or close to 60fps where previously they were capped at 30fps. I don't sit close enough to my tv to really notice the resolution boost. E.g. Gears 4, The Rise of the Tomb Raider (1080p) and Hitman (1440p) at 60fps are great compared to 4k at 30fps.

Not sure if that's worth £450 from an Xbox One S, but it was worth it to me to sit along side my original PS4.

Even with currently 'only' having a 1080p TV (Sony KDL-46W905), the X has impressed me and I'm glad I got one. No regrets with my day one purchase at all and I'm glad I've been able to enjoy it since day one. Games look glorious on it and it has made older titles even more fun to play, thanks to how much nicer some of them look on the X, such as Battlefield, 1 which hasn't even had an X Enhanced update yet.

Personally I’m allergic to jaggies which all games had on the One/One S. The One X fixes them on every single game which makes it worth it for that alone!

Yes I ran the demo, but it all it does is show you the differance using 4K and normal 1080p, the picture I was getting before with my TV upscaling to near 4K or HDR is the same as the Xbox one X is producing now so picture wise not worth the money to upgrade, loading times no different than before, these are the areas I though I would see a huge benefit, but this is my opinion only everybody else to their own, happy gaming

It's worth it, but obviously a lot more so if you have a large-screen 4K HDR-10 TV.

I will say that it is easy to adjust very quickly and not realise just how much better it looks.
I have our S in another room and only caught a glimpse of a game as my nephew was playing on something, and that was certainly an eye opener, I didn't actually realise that the X was a lot better.

Some of the 60 FPS modes certainly can have a bigger impact as you can feel that extra fluidity and snappiness in the controls.

This isn't necessarily the best video, you can tell his lighting is off, probably filmed at different times of the day but I think you can clearly see a big difference regardless. Skip into it - you may find he talks a bit too much.

Xbox One X vs One S Demo! SEE THE DIFFERENCE!

Is anyone playing SW BF2 on the one x on a 4k tv if so I have a question. On the cutscenes or multiplayer loading screens are you getting loads of blocky pixels showing on dark areas of the screen ?
Oh and my tv image is coming from a 2017 LG E7 oled.

It was more so on the loading screens for multiplayer or cutscenes in single player.
When I get chance I will take some pics so you can see.
