It's smaller brother, the LW26A33XW is HDTV ready
    http://www.unbeatable.co.uk/CatalogueItem_19355.html

and this European Samsung site says the LW32 is also HDTV

    http://www.samsung.com/at/products/tv/flatpanellcdtv/lw32a33w.asp?page=Specifications

However I can't find any mention of it being HDTV ready on any UK sites?

Here are the official pages from the UK Samsung siite

You need a HDMI or DVI-HDCP input, the 32" says no and the 26" says it has the DVI-HDCP.

The Samsung LW32A33 has HDMI (which automatically makes it HD ready) & DVI, can confirm this as I have looked at one in Currys, also theres a thread on this which I commented on yesterday, a member has purchased one of these and writtem a mini review.

I guess Samsung should update their web site and make it clearer.

But it doesn't do 720p at 50Hz... So isn't that kind of a contradiction in terms? Or have I confused my terms..?

After reading Damian Arstall's review I don't think it's even worth considering.

Shame, it's the nicest looking set I've seen.

    Alternatively the SAMSUNG LE32A41BX here
    http://www.qed-uk.com/?i=12kW1G0DkA...31&prodlist_p=1

This 32" LCD is true 16:9 (1366x768) as opposed to the LW32A33W which is 15:9 (1280x768) the only feature missing is the HDMI although it does have DVI (HDPC_ enabled. Oh and it costs £1063 + del.

It does indeed accept 720p @ 50Hz. So does the LW32A32W (which has only one DVI input, but it's DV-I (i.e. both digital and analogue) and HDCP-ready).

    HTH

    Moory ;)

I emailed Samsung and they told me the LW32A33W doesn't do 720p/50Hz. Unless you are saying they don't know their own product? (not impossible! :)).

Samsung told me it does accept the 50Hz signal at 720p as well.

By the way, this isn't a bad set for the money. I was a little concerned to start with but after pairing it with the right DVD player things improved a hell of a lot. The final thing was to play around endlessly with the various picture settings to get a good result. It took some time but I got there in the end. Don't let Damian's review put you off.

Thank you for contacting Samsung Electronics regarding the 32'' LCD TV, LW32A33W.

Is is correct that this model of TV will not support 720p at 50hz ,it will only support this at 60Hz, but will support 576 interlaced and progressive scan and also 1080i at 50Hz through Component!

    Can anyone actually verify/deny this??!
