    hi guys,

currently in the market for a 50in plasma and from what i can tell this fujitsu is the best of the best.

does everyone agree? if so, are there any new models due for release in the next 4-6 weeks that are likely to be more impressive than this screen?

in australia this is a very pricey screen in comparison to other screens. will be interesting to see if this model experiences the same price drops that other suppliers have been experiencing in recent times.

    thanks

    julie

I am a happy owner but it isnt quite the panacea we were hoping for in terms of native compatibility.( See Maw's comments in the main Fujitsu 40-series story thread. )
That said, decent picture on low quality sources, stunning picture on DVD and breathtakingly, heartrenchingly, tear-inducing picture on HD.
Then get it ISFed and I defy you not to think heaven is a place on earth.

The new HD Viera screens (PV500 models) from Panasonic are due out in June - it's possible that they will look as good as the Fujitsu does, but (I suspect) only if paired with an external scaler. That wouldn't actually be much cheaper, but might allow you to spread the cost a bit.

Its the monster doing the biz at the higher end of market at the moment....but you may wish to wait for the specs for the new Panny 8 series displays rather than Viera TV model as scalers i am told are better wiv display only panels.

Im gettin my Fuji and Lumagen scaler installed end of month thanks to Mr Liam "likes a few drinks" Progressive... :D ISFing good panels is a must do too.

Dilsher - I`ll be very keen to see your screen working with a lumagen as Im not convinced that the scaler in the meridian DVD player is up to much. Which scaler are you getting ? I honestly dont think the screen needs one for anything other than the worst signals but Id like to see, anyway........I bet it`ll be fatal to an already battered creditcard.

    lol@Pat

Pat mate..it will all be sorted by the end of the month but I know Liam and probs Peirs and Gordon are due to use a Lumagen wiv the panel soon and wil report back. I totally understand its really a luxury buy a scaler wiv this panel - but my discussions wiv Liam and threads posted on the scaler forums convince me that i personally would benefit from SDI and SD upscaling via Lumagen's ability to do so mcuh more than a processor in a plasma panel..no aktter how good it is! I'm getting the Luma HD btw...i have put up all the new stuff im gettin on my signature already mate..lookee below..lol.!

Pity your'e in Solihull but if your'e ever in London would love for you to come spend a evening wiv the gear. Weather I get a big difference wiv SD sky or not dont bother me - but im also buying a scaler to last me a fair time wiv any screen or new technology...and so am futureproofing as best as I can - i may well change panels in a couple of years if summat better comes along!

I'm not too bothered wiv HD DVD or Blu-Ray for good a while if my current set up does enuff PQ as it is...so a scaler now is an investment fo rthe future too..and its saving me dosh!

I know the Fuji is fab wivout a scaler - i think for most its a scaler is a luxury item...

you should see the state of my credit cards! But actually.. I can afford 7k+ cos I got a nice compensation settlement from the Criminal Injuries Board! And i stopped smoking so ahve an extra 4k in da bank every year!!!!

    Regards

    Dil

If you go to www.plasmavision.com ...its all there mate in da brochure!!! theres an illustrated measures there every which way.

BTW i think (dont quote me) this is the most well speced plasma in da UK at present hence the price. Apart from HDCP on DVI...

Dilsher - make sure you DO NOT get the HA40es. You must get the HA40US.

    Cheers, Mate

Are these models US imports or is it the same model number for the UK spec ones, and how much are we looking at?

    Hi Mal

Both Pat and I paid around the 4.5 k mark. I'm not sure if it's an import but it definitely is US spec...I also now know its bloody difficult to get hold of in the UK though for some reason??? Could be wrong but before i found Laim i rang lots of Fuji dealers and they wer eeither getting one or two or did notknow anythng about it..

Interested in anyone knowing the answers meself tbh...

These are official UK models. They are identical to the US models and hence have the same model description. They are not grey, parallel or any other kind of import. They are the real thing.
