    Hi all,
I read the FAQ but just wanted to clarify this.
Is the component cable for the 360 justa normal component cable or a special one just for the xbox ?
    Cheers

It's a special proprietory one for the 360. Just like with exisitng consoles all the cables for the 360 will require a special proprietory connection on the console and will be specific to it.

What I want to know is can I use the cable on my progressive scan CRT?

Or will it only output 720p?

pug72 I don't see why not. The component will (should) output all pal and ntsc progressive modes as well as interlaced, just like the original xbox.

    I hope so.

Gunna buy the advanced scart as well just in case. Will return it if the HD cable works ok.

You will not get any sort of progressive output out of the scart! (Although some ARE capable of progressive these pins are seldom used.

I realize that, I'm just saying that if the HD leads don't work I'll have the next best thing ready.

Sorry, should have made myself clearer.

No problem, I am sure the component cable will work, after all it's the only way of getting hi-def and the only point of getting a 360 (Hope this doesn't start something by saying that)

    True enough.

However, surely there are a going to be a lot of gamers, specifically less knowledgable, young gamers and non fan boys who will crave a 360 and still run it via a 'normal' CRT as they simply do not know the merits of progressive gaming nor 720, nor have the ability to connect it to a set with component inputs.

    Just my thoughts?

    Pete.
