Question Is the 910V a step up from 930V?

Wandering round curry's yesterday I was looking at the 55" LG OLED, Truly gob smacked by the 960V which way better than any of the other 4K offerings IMO. But at £2499 possibly more than I want to spend. I then went in search of the 910V (nor 4K) to see how it compared. But they only had the older 930V and by comparison it was truly dreadful. Major, major tint issues, the skin tones were just so wrong. Possibly the worst picture I've ever seen from an in store TV. Why they ever let it out on the floor is beyond me.

So the questions is am I wasting my time finding another store that has the 910V. I know the tint issues with the 930V have been well documented here. But with so many threads and with thousands of posts it's difficult to make a judgement on if the historical problems have been solved with ALL of the new range.

Many thanks

hard to say but later build 930's appear to be similar to 910 models, tbh they use probably the same panel anyway
My Oct build 930 has no obvious tint even on all white

Also what pic mode/set up was the 930, as when I viewed in store the 930 compared favourably with the 4k model, same settings

I was leaning towards the flat EF950V but I have gradually begun to wonder whether I actually needed 4K or HDR. So I have been checking out the EG910V instead. Just waiting until CES 2016 to see what is coming next and hoping that perhaps the prices of the EG910V, which have been steady for some months, might drop to a more realistic level.

leedebs, thanks for the reply, however I'm tempted to think you were just one of the lucky ones that got decent panel rather than later builds solving the inherent problems with the 930.

So I'm pretty much leaning to the 910 and pay the extra but was hoping to hear from 910 owners that this version did indeed solve those problems.

Rogdodge, I came to the same conclusion with little or no 4K content atm I can't justify the extra £700+ My viewing is fairly limited and quite happy with good quality 1080p.

That will all change of course if the 910v does indeed have the same issues. In which case everything is up in the air again. I could be swayed to the 950/960 If Currys do something special in the new year sales and price gets close to £2k, although I see they now give a £250 trade in which brings it down to £2249 so maybe it's possible. You can pick one up on ebay for £2k but that's not a route I want to go.

I made the decision early on to buy an OLED TV. I think the EG910V makes the most sense for my needs.
The problem is, will a 1080p be part of LG's 2016 line-up? If not, then I will go for the 910V and wait a few years (hopefully) and buy a model once all the 'foibles' are ironed out in the current batches and there are more 4k and HDR programmes readily available.

worth checking out the 910 thread but it appears similar imo to later build 930, ostensibly lg probably would use the same panel but processing may be different, only way to tell is to have each side by side I guess

As someone who owned a few of each model I'd say there's no reason to upgrade from a 930V.

If they were priced the same then I wouldn't go for the 930V but that's purely because I'd rather have the "new" model.

The 910 is a cost cutting exercise, as was the 930V.

Whilst I've got no evidence at all I would bet my life on it that the panels used in both the 930V and 910V are identical.

A September build 930 will likely have the same panel as a September build 910. The chances that Lg invested money in R&D on a "new" 1080p panel is unlikely. They wanted to make more profit on the 910 hence reducing the number of hdmi inputs, worse packaging for accessories (that was also carried over into late build 930's as my launch 930 packaging felt "premium"

And any changes in manufacturing of the panels will likely have been carried over into both though.

According to this list, there are no new 1080p sets released next year - 4K and 8K only.

WebOS 2.0 alone is a worthy upgrade compared to the 930. I also prefer more the white finish on the back and the edges are even nicer to me. I don't doubt that its the same panel, but in a newer suit ;)

Thanks, Dutch. Only two 4K sets to choose from. One curved and one flat so that makes it less complicated. :)
I may still go with the EG910V but will wait a short while and see how reviews pan out before deciding which way to jump.
