Is the 360 worth re-investing in? Arcade or Pro?

Hi everyone,

Firstly I'm sorry for asking familiar questions, but I want up to date info and opinions :)

I owned a 360 Premium almost 3 years ago, I loved GRAW incredibly, but I ended up going off of the 360 and returning it.

Down the line, I love what I've played of CoD 4 and am considering reinvesting one.

Is now a good time to buy a 360, or is it going to fall in price soon? I was considering the possibility of a new Xbox being released, though judging from E3 and news articles the 360 looks fit for another 2 or 3 years?

I like the look of Modern Warfare 2, and I am also interested in the MGS, Splinter Cell and Forza offerings, as well as many other titles.

My biggest dilemma is whether to go for the Pro or Arcade version. There were some great Pro deals around but there seems to be less now.

With the Pro I would have lots of hard drive space, good for saving games to.
With the Arcade I'd save £60 (I think I can get it for £100 from Additions/Littlewoods/Marshall Wards) but I would have little memory, and would need to spend £20ish on a 20GB hard drive, or even £50 for a 60GB HDD, 3 months LIVE, Ethernet Cable and Headset (in a LIVE Starter Package).

Any advice on whether to go for the Arcade or Pro would be much appreciated, and any other comments are welcome. If anyone knew of any good bundles that would be great as well.

Thank you!

the arcade, with a 60gig starter pack would be ideal, if you can get it cheaper than the standard 60gig pack, as it has the extra sub with it, unless of course, you wanted the 120gig elite.
as for the arcade, read that as once you have connected to live(to access any material you would have to), you will be left with no memory, virtually, as most of it is taken for the dash update(NXE).
also for storing games saves, installing games to the hard drive to save wear and tear on the drive, etc, downloading arcade games, the 20gig would fill up rather quickly.

Well the Arcade and Pro balance out roughly value for money wise (if I get the starter pack) because hopefully the Pro would come with a game or two.

Ah well then the hard drive would be necessary if the NXE takes up space then?

Yeah the option to save games to the hard drive is good, so do you recommend the 60GB strongly over the 20GB then?

Thanks, I'm stuck for choice! :)

I would go for the Pro model with 60gb HDD simply because theres some great deals to be had. Take a look at HMV and gamestation because where i am those 2 stores always have a fantastic offer on that includes at least a couple of games. I picked up a Pro back in November for about £160 from gamestation with 3 games, i ended up selling those games which meant the console had cost me less than £110

yeah, 60 gig or 120gig are the ones to go for, which though, is up to you.
check around for deals, in the usual places, amazon, game, gamestation, etc.

I'll probably go for the Pro version then. Thanks for your input everyone.

Can't seem to see the Tesco deal locally and the nearest Gamestation is 1-2 hours on the train. : / So that kind of rules that one out, unless I feel like a day out! Gamestation seem to not list their good deals on the website either.

Looks like I will have to try HMV.

Now it's just a case of finding the best or cheapest deal, which isn't easy.

Cheers again all. :)

Bought a 60GB Pro from Gamestation yesterday £169.99 with Burnout Paradise, Trivial Pursuit, Connect 4 and an extra wireless pad. :smashin:

Had a look around today, I saw a bundle the same as that in HMV but less an extra wireless controller for £4 less I think.

Would someone post couple of Gamestation's deals up please [instore], the ones on the website are reflective of instore and I don't live very near a Gamestation? Thanks.

What I may do is take a trip up to Gamestation and get the above deal or similar deal which someone posts? That extra controller is a bonus.

There seem to be fewer bundles around than there were a few months back.

Cheers!
