Really hope one of you clever IT guys can help

My wifes work laptop has been problematic for days (failure to connect to SMTP server) and my HTPC has been a little off colour connecting to some websites.

I logged onto my router tonight and found the following in the log.

A quick google search has got me very worried. Am I right in thinking someone is trying to access my system??

How can I stop this :lease:

    Would appreciate any help

It's normal for your computer to be scanned by other machines. Hacker programs on compromised computers do random scans so that they copy themselves to vulnerable computers. If you've got firewall protection I wouldn't worry.

More info on port scanning etc: Port Scanning Unscanned

Thanks mate, prob just something I have never seen before so feared the worst.

I have firewalls both at router level and on each system (plus all security updates) so I should be safe I guess.

If they were outgoing then you should be worry.

But you're bound to pick up incoming scans like that, there are lots of 'zombie' machines out there who will sniff around for an open port to attack.
