Is Samsung warranty transferrable?

Looking at a Note 2 second hand off the classifieds if I can find one at a decent price :) The question is, what do Samsung need for warranty purposes? and how to transfer the warranty to another user esp if phone is second hand?

With Apple its straight forward. Need do nothing until you need a repair and even then no questions asked and phone ownership easily transferred on Apple systems.

I called their CS department a few weeks ago to ask the same question and was advised that the warranty is based on the serial number and that proof of purchase is not a requirement. :)

Cheers,

Martin.

I asked them online & was told the polar opposite:

Thank you for contacting Samsung. Let me clarify our warranty policy for you.

Please note that proof of purchase is required in order for us service your device under the warranty. We will require the original purchase receipt or similar evidence like bank statement or phone bill. This is normal practice and enables us to check that your warranty is valid. If you do not have the original proof of purchase, we recommend contacting the original seller for assistance. If your device was received as a gift you should contact the person who gave the gift for advice as we still require the original proof of purchase. If you cannot produce the proof of purchase then we cannot validate your warranty. In this case our service centre may require payment before any repair work can be carried out.

As you say, the Polar opposite. I just wish they'd give out the right information every time, as I have just purchased an S3 off the classifieds without paperwork in the belief that what I had been told would be correct.

Cheers,

Martin.

I bought an S3 second hand and needed support with it.

I just went to my local support centre, and got it fixed.

I believe they just went on the serial number.
