No,perhaps not quite what you thought, but I've just read that Rio Ferdinand has been banned from driving, yet again, for passing a marked police car at 105mph.Even more shocking, perhaps,is the fact that he apparently pulled up behind the jam sandwich at well above the speed limit, they pulled over,he passed them and they followed him for 1.8 miles at a little over 105mph!!!!

    Is he mad,blind or what?

Oh,and he was fined £1500,he'll notice that of course.

I wouldn't imagine that he'd miss the couple of grand to hire a chauffeur for a month either and to add insult to injury the "staff costs" will probably be tax deductible

Depends if after tax I suppose. he's on £85K a week. So assuming he actually worked a £37.50 hour week like most people thats over £2K an hour.

I worked that it was the same as the average Joe getting fined £6.00 Perhaps a longer ban period would have been better.

At that level they really should be making fines appropriate to a persons income.

Think the fine he got is actually the maximum permissable for that offence.

I don't suppose that would be a great hardship either as his employers would just provide him with a chauffeur

I've been thinking about this overnight (yes,it did hurt).Apparently the police were about to nick an unsuspecting driver just as Rio arrived.Perhaps we're doing him an injustice.Perhaps he wears his pants outside his trousers and has a big R on his chest :D
