So how about this.....
1/40th at 235mm, panning shot with IS....
How about 1/60th
Bet it cost a bit John!
Jeeez it's hot today!
Here's one I took without IS
But IS would not be needed on your shot..
exif says 1/1000th at 14.32 in the afternoon. Looks like a nice bright day.
The point of my post was that my images were taken thus........
Spitfire, 20.41pm, 1/60th, f8, iso200
Chippy, 21.08pm, 1/40th, f5, iso200
Both while panning. Without IS I think they would have been in the trashcan..
Can you prove that?
If I had an electric wheelchair and a non IS lens could I track shots just the same?
Just look at the exif data....
I have obviously missed the point here. If you pay over a grand for a lens, with IS, would you not expect it to work ?
Because some people wonder just how effective it is or doubt it makes any worthwhile difference.
I'm with John, I found it makes a big difference on my Nikon VR lense.
How much would a framed shot of the Spit cost me. (PM me if you prefer)
It's just a bit of fun, I am well aware my shot would not need IS.....it's humour mate and I also thought I would post because it followed your aviation theme
Your shots are very nice indeed and I wish I had a fantastic IS L lens.....although it would not make me a better photographer only practise can do that
Cheers for now,
PS How about those high aspect ratio wings though
Nice shots John & to a man with a passion for photographing planes the lens must be worth every penny
Out of interest, how much do you crop original shots ? Just wondering how tight a shot you can realistically take on the day.
what is IS..?
That second shot is awesome john, nice lighting
I guessed you were having fun.....I was trying to be Mr Serious....
I try and get shots as close as these. If the aircraft only fills say half the frame, then quality after cropping would be too low....well for me anyway..
These are ramdom originals....just resized to 800 wide for posting.
The orange glow is the sun setting behind me.....a priceless shot..
Well 'cough', my normal fee would be £999, but as you are a fellow forumite, I'll email you a high res copy if you like.....but you gotta promise not to sell it to anyone and retire on the proceeds....
PM me your private email
Sorry did not realise you had got a cheapie from Hong Kong.
I would still be very upset if I paid £830.00 for a lens that boasted IS and did not deliver same.
Nooooooo, From USA via Scotland...
Sorry again !! Having recently bought from the U.S. myself I have discovered, very quickly, that they pay in dollars that which we pay in pounds. Even with the possible addition of Import Duty it is still cheaper to buy from the U.S.
I am still rather surprised that you seemed amazed that IS worked. Did you have any reason to believe that it would not ? Could Canon produce a lens promising IS and then not deliver ?
John, that first picture of the Airbus in your "some random images";
It looks like the engines are mounted on huge bearings so the whole engine can slide back and forth?
Does anyone know if that is the case?
I'm seriously, seriously, seriously mind boggled if that is the case...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is that a Koan?
great, then the answer is The the...
