Was or is the Sony STRDB-930 a good reciever/Amp?And is it a very reliable reciever compared to Yamaha's and Denon's and the like?Because i always here to stay away from Sony amps because of reliability issues due to weak power supplies and poor quality control and the dreaded "Protection"that sooner or later always seems to crop up on the display of there recievers.Should i worry about any of this or should i just relax and not worry?Thank you for any help to all my UK and US friends.Keith from USA..PEACE to all..

Yes, it is good at what it does, better than it's replacements really.
I like Denons of the recent models available.
Assuming you are buying second-hand.......don't pay too much, they often appear on E-Bay.

I have a Sony 930 and it is excellent.

Although, I would want a 1070 version or the current model now if I got another one.

No problems with the protection thing since I have had it.

yep had a 930 for a while now, about 2.5 years, and had zero problems. However attach a decent set of speakers to it, and it struggles.

I had one for a couple of years with no problems. I've since sold it to a friend and got myself a 3802.

If the price is right, I wouldn't put you off the 930.

Recently sold mine for a 3802 which is a great improvement but if you can get the 930 for around 300 then it's a great buy.

Very in your face sounding amp which you may or may not get on with try and have a listen. Feels and looks more expensive than it is.

I was thinking a lot less than 300 quid. Assuming you can find a brand new one, I'd pay 200 tops.

Good condition 2nd hand, say 100 quid tops.

    That's what I think anyway.
