My sound system at the moment uses it to great effect but i haven't seen any mention of it in the specs of the mainstream players (may have a technical term i'm not aware of though)

kinda curious why a question about DVD/HDD players was moved from the DVD/HDD area to DVD players then moved again to all in ones?

it still very popular,if not the most popular way of outputting audio.
its classed on some spec sheets as "digital out",or "audio out"
