Is one HDMI input on screen enough if I'm using a scaler?

About to take the plunge on a 50" screen (almost definitely the Fujitsu 50XHA40US) which I will also be adding a scaler to (probably the DVDO VP30 given the convenience of video switching and lip sync in one box).

One thing holding me back is that Fuji are bringing out a replacement model in May which will apparently have 2 HDMI inputs. The Fujitsu guys at the Bristol Show (who incidentally were extremely helpful) don't know of any other technical improvements and say that the replacement is mainly driven by EU (?) disposal policy which dictates the screen components can be recycled.

If I'm definitely going to be using a scaler with plenty of HDMI/other switching, is there any reason why I shouldn't get the current (well-loved) model and save a few hundred quid along the way?
