Is Now A Good Time To Buy

Howdy,

Within the next 4 weeks I was hoping to pick myself up an HD Amp, something from Denon, Onkyo or Yamaha in the £700-£1000 price range.

I've heard on the grapevine that some new models from this guys in this price range could be dropping soon.

Is it best to hold off, although if they were planning on bringing something out later than September then that is just too long to wait.

cheers,

Nige

There are two things to consider:
1) There will always be a new model coming soon, irrespective of when you buy. If you always hold out for the next model, you'll never buy anything.
2) The GBP is weak compared to the EUR and JPY, and it's not improving. This results in a rise in the GBP price just to remain at the same price.
I'd suggest shopping around and buying whatever satisfies your requirements, rather than delaying.

I fully understand that there will always be a new model coming up - heck I'm an early adopter and am used to get stiffed !

What I'm wondering though is there a general refresh planned from the main players over the next 4 weeks. I'm not sure if they stick to a regular release cycle etc ..

September appears to be the month some manufacturers are planning on releasing their more expensive replacement models. You may see a few discounted discontinued models after then?

The problem is that there isn't much for the retailers to discount. There's a stock shortage and for retailers to offer discounts, there needs to be old models still in the stockroom when the new models arrive to replace them.
