    Hi,

Sorry for the similar post to another one here.

My Sony DVP-S7000 player is about 5 years old, I adore it. It has always played every DVD under the sun.

However, recently it has the occasional problem of playing certain discs from my back catalogue (the golder ones for instance).

I am hoping it is a dirt lens and not the mechanism.

It's like the disc spins but does not read...

    Any ideas?

    Have you tried a cleaner?

Does the error message (above) flash?

I had a similar problem to yourself on my Sony 335, this message would appear, it's a problem on some Sonys I believe - and never found a satisfactory solution......

Never mind, got my Arcam DV88+ now, no problems!

I have a Sony, it has come up with that error before (C:13)

If so it's either dirty disc/lens, or disc rot.

Have you calibrated the laser mech? It's in the service menu. Run the calibration for a dual layer and a single layer disc.

Do the same discs work in another player?

Nathan, I remember you posting this advice once before when C13 came up. I tried it but no success........all the affected discs work perfectly in my Arcam. The Sony has been relegated to the bedroom, anyway.

To describe the problem in a non-technical way it seemed like the Sony became increasingly fussy about discs with very minor scratches / marks....

    Ta for advice though!

    Thanks for all your responses.

The discs work on other players and they used to work on mine.

I get no error come up on the screen. I place the disc in, int tries to load it and you can hear it loading but it stops and says no disc inserted.

I think it needs a clean maybe..
