I upgraded to Sky+ some time ago, but my old box is just lying in the loft. Is it of any use? Can I sit it in a spare room and gain freeview channels?

It's either that or I just dump it !

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks
Scott

You can still use it to pickup the free channels, assuming that you have the cable feed from your dish in the spare room. I wouldn't dump it, you never know when you might need it for an emergency etc, ie, if your Sky+ box breaks down.

thanks for this neil - does this mean I could technically use it in another room as an alternative to freeview then?
I think that's what I said. However, be aware that you won't get certain free channels such as E4/More4 without a Sky subscription and some other free channels won't be available unless a viewing card is present.
