Is my lounge too small for a decent amp?

I'm planning my kit for when we hopefully move from a flat to a house in a few months.

Unfortunately the plans for a 20 bedroom mansion with dedicated home cinema complex have fallen through at the last minute...

... and it looks like its going to be a three bed semi round the corner.

The dimensions of the lounge will be 11ft from sofa to TV and 14ft wide.

I was thinking of a 6.1 arangement using the Pioneer AX5i, the forthcoming replacement for the 2011-but at 100w per channel am I having a laugh, with a room of the above dimensions?

    Opinions please.

    Thanks.

No matter what size your room...... a good amp is a good amp and will be better than a not so good amp!

Agree with Buns, size of room has no bearing on quality of amp.
I'm using mine, for the time being, in a room 3m * 4m an it sounds sooooo good :)

    Regards
    John

Yeah, you'll still be able to appreciate the quality of a better amp...

Wouldn't want to turn it up full blast though.

    Ive got full 6.1 (seven speakers and sub) plus 32'' widescreen in a 12' x 13' room..:D

Sounds great....not enough room for Mission 773e rears, so hung them on the side walls 3' off the floor.

Next planned upgrades are better sub, and 42'' plasma. Can't really go for 50'' unless I brick up the kitchen door.........mmmm, we could access the kitchen from the garden maybe..........

Excellent. Thanks all for your input. I can indulge happily. Now I just have to decide on the speakers...

Johndm... kitchen doors are overrated. But a 50in plasma - now there's a thing. ;-)

Well, I've gone to the max in my room, 11' x 12'!

Look at my photos link, you'll find big amps, big speakers and a Velodyne CHT 15 sub just in case my neighbours couldn't hear it!

It's all about the quality which is night and day worth it over lesser kit.

Definitely not too small....in the words of a Metallica song(I think!) too much is never enough....we have about 800W+ in a room not too much bigger...enjoy!

In a small room go for less power more quality.
