I've just purchased an LG Gh22np20 drive. When I put it in my PC, Windows XP SP2 recognises it and reports the correct model in device manager. However, I can't get it to read any disks I put in it, I've tried several DVD and CD disks of all types. The writer software triggers the eject mechanism, so I know the PC is at least in communication with the drive. I've tried it on two PC's and also tried it with Vista. I have also tried the drive in various IDE configurations with the jumper set accordingly, i.e Master, Slave and CS. The manual says I don't need any additonal driver other than that provided by Windows. My exixting DVD (read only) drive works fine in the same position.

Does this sound like a faulty drive or is there something else I can try?
