Is my 725 knackered??

    During playback of discs i get the following problems:-

    :- very loud noise coming from drive itself
    :- breaking up of picture, and producing digital artifacts
    :- getting C13:00 error when putting disc in
    :- DVD will randomly jump from end of disc to beginning of disc.

    I've tried using a dvd cleaner, any other suggestions?

    Very common error with some Sony players.

    Do a search on the Web for it and you'll see what I mean.

    oh......had a good look round.....and it seems i have 3 options?

    1) Warm the soldering iron up , and do the old "fuse" fix

    2) recalibrate the lasers

    3) Buy a new player

    go to www.techtronics.com look under problem discs. should find a fix for sony 725, you need to get the laser realigned which you can do by pressing a few buttons on the remote ( the site has the correct sequence) not sure if you will have to do this everytime you use your player though

    I had the exact same problem with my 725 last year. I sent it away to be modified to play RCE discs. 3 days after it was returned I began to experience these problems. The manager of the mod company was very helpful and ran me through the bios setup in order to re-align the laser. Unfortunately this didn't work so the laser had to be replaced...luckily (as a goodwill gesture) they replaced it as my coverplan insurance was within 2 days of expiring. Stroke of luck I guess. I sold the 725 in April and have been watching my DVD's on the PC (Ouch!). I finally got a Denon 3800 in July but am having withdrawal symptoms as I don't have Region 1 yet. Bwaaaah! Can anyone help?
