Ah, that might be more difficult. You could probably pick it up on Ebay. :)

What is a good price for the Boxset and which is better, the R1 or R2 release?

I have seen the R1 boxsets go for more than a hundred quid on ebay - they seemed to be sold out everywhere for a while, but then a few appeared again at around $60 each...

The R1 is definitely the one to go for in my opinion: a couple of the extras are missing from the R2, the packaging is inferior, and there were many reports of audio glitches with the UK version (I can't confirm this to be true though).

Is £49.99 for the Region 2 Collectors Boxset is a good price?

Not really, not when you can get the region 1 for quite a bit less...

Good thing I didnt go for it then but to tell the truth I dont want a Region 1 Boxset, I already have the R2 The Two Towers Collectors Boxset so wanted to get R2 again but apart from the one MTV extra that is missing how do the releases differ?
Also, how exactly is the R1 packaging better as I know the standard R2 4 Disc set has pretty rubbish outer packaging made of thin cardboard but inside the Two Towers Collectors Boxset the outer packaging is made of alot thinker cardboard which I thought was the same as the R1 release.

My local Toys R Us (Wakefield) had a few on display a while ago..looked like they had found a box lurking round back or something. Dont know if they still have them but they were selling for the full retail price.

The R2 Collector's packaging is better than the standard version, but i still wouldn't say that it was as good as the R1 version... the R1 has a less glossy, more leather effect feel to it, and it doesn't have all the classification & EIV logos all over it. The difference is small enough not to worry about though unless you are a real fanatic like me! :hiya:

I have never really minded the logos and ratings they stick on the packaging, guess thats because every film I have bought has always had a logo on it but I will always go for the release of the film which is the best film wise.
I dont really mind if the Region 2 release is missing a few extras but if the film itself is cut then I will try and get the Uncut release, at the moment I am trying to find a Region 4 version of Attack of the Clones and Indiana Jones Trilogy, if I cant find them for a decent price then I guess I will be getting the Region 1 versions.

Most people on the forum seemed to think that the R1 version of fellowship was better, especially sound quality wise, but I have never heard or seen a direct comparison so can't really say...

I read a few articles around the time of the FOTR four disc release that said there was problems with the DTS track or something but I have to say that I have never had a problem with the set in my collectors box and the DTS sounds superb :)

I just noticed on StreetsOnline that they have the Fellowship of the Ring Collectors Boxset listed at £24.99, I dont know if they have sold out already or if they are expecting stock but at that price I thought it was worth an order just incase they do get some in.

I just had an email from them saying that they are unable to source the product anymore so they have changed the details on their website and have cancelled my order, thought it was too good to be true at that price :(

I used to have the R2 EE LOTR, but found the soundtrack so glitchy I had to buy the R1. I didn't notice the glitches until I got my first surround sound equipment; then I couldn't bear to watch it any more.

I didn't risk buying the R1 TTT or ROTK in case they had the same probelms - although I think they're probably fine.

Can't wait to get my EE ROTK...
