wont connect, was downloading Burnout too
Yeah it must be I got too about 96% on the burnout demo and it disconnected me , the xbox.com forums are down as well
Yeah looks like a massive outage at Microsoft. Oops
ah - and there was be worrying
That's good news (sorta!) - was about to go hunting in my router to increase my 'MTU' confused: )
I'll wait on MS instead
phew was just looking at my router settings too
Been restarting router and xbox and messing with MTU settings for the last hour. . Hopefully be sorted soon as I wanted a game of FN3 before work.
oh my GOD you're joking me!!!! I've just spent the last hour pulling my hair out trying to figure out why i couldnt connect on my 360 and original xbox. I've been frantically searching the net for ways to change my MTU on my router because it said that was the problem, and I called speedtouch (the manufacturer) to sort it out (50p a minute too ) only to log on here in my desperation to plead for help, and find this thread!
Amazing how people panic when Live goes down without pre-knowledge.
Live should be back online at noon, few minutes time......or will it?
i feel a right tit now I was so worried my router was knackered! Wow, I wonder what happened to the poor souls who were playing online at the time it was turned off. Imagine being in first place, final corner on burnout then... ZAP! Off it goes
I have the same problem too, let's hope they get it sorted soon
i called my isp asking did they have network trouble
i guess that explains why our gamercards aren't appearing here too! And thus... the puzzle is complete
It isn't a problem, it's routine maintenance:
"Xbox Live will be undergoing scheduled maintenance on March 21, 2006, from 0200 to 0400 Pacific Time. Xbox Live and "My Xbox" on Xbox.com will be unavailable during this maintenance."
Yes sorry I worded it wrong
Maybe they're incorporating new features and stuff, hence the shutdown? Here's hoping!
Why though is there not the facility to have a message sent to all account owners for them to read on Live
Not to there email address but similar to a friend message - ot at least a box poping up when you sign in to say its due to go down
Just look how many people thought something was wrong - I for one was in middle of a Burnout Session when it just went down
yeah good point duncan. i can't understand that either...
Yes, like when you sign in and that box to the right which shows info, well that could have a message displayed there a week or so before the maintenance.
If not then send mass email to all registered Live players worldwide.
Its a scheduled maintenance so they have had it planned and probably for quite some time.
PS Well its gone 4am PST and still no Live!!!!
or maybe its V for Vendetta bring down the totalitarian Gaming state
remember remember the 5th of November
That's the first I've heard of a "maintenance schedule". Must be a schedule that they only tell themselves of and change on a random basis depending on what's just happened (ie poured their big gulps on the router).
Or perhaps im just cynical?
Serves you all right for playing on Xboxes when you should be at work like the rest of us!
and the maintenance statement claims it's only for 2 hours well it's been down for more than 2 hours so far, must be having serious problems
Someone probably pushed the start up button and it blew and now running around like headless chickens looking for a 13 amp fuse!
MS usually do give advance notification of updates but perhaps lads its essiential/urgent work thats needing done.
Lets hope its up again soon, and i long for a day when the dashboard has a more professional look a bit like the way Vista will look.
Whether its essential or urgent doesn't matter, its scheduled maintenance which means it has been planned so they knew beforehand or thats what they wants us to believe.
As was I, I was getting worried and didn't really want to mess with anything, thanks for the heads up whoever posted the link.
maybe we should have an Is Live down sticky so people dont make complete muppets of themselves like a few in this thread
And we're back in the room...
Exactly, maintence ha!
It's always better to say it's "Maintence" than an actual problem!
