LG claim that this plasma is HD compatible but they also in another document say that it isn't beause of it's native resolution which is only 852x480 what effect will this have on it's ability to display HDTV progs when they are broadcast?

Quite a few retailers say it is HD ready, but the native resolution is indeed 852 x 480, so it is clearly not HD ready. It's not enough to have an HDMI connector and accept 720p inputs - you have to be able to display them, too.

Still, it only costs around £1200, so you can't expect too much. If that's the budget, a Panasonic or Hitachi is a better bet, but remember that HD ready sets will hold onto their value much better next year.
