    Hi All,

I've seen a faulty slim PS3 for sale for £50. The fault is that it will not connect to the tv via av or hdmi. I'm by no means an expert in fixing things but do you think that this could be rectified with the reset trick? holding the power button down until the 2 beeps? It hasn't been opened. Could be a bargain buy if so.

    Cheers to all

Highly unlikely , that would have been the first thing tried. Its not really a trick either , its the only way to set it up when changing between TV's and instructions are in the manual.

The motherboard is most likely blown.

Thanks andy1249. Yeah I'm sure your right. Only reason I asked is that I purchased a slim from the same place a few weeks ago with the same issue and got lucky, pressed the power down to reset and hey presto it was fine.

Hi, well I went and bought it anyway only due to the fact that I may of been lucky like before and it is a 320gb. They advertised it as no signal from av or hdmi. What happens is when switched on within 5 seconds it turns straight back off with the standby light no longer on. The eject button stills beeps and when I press the power button again the red standy light comes back on. I've tried the reset and that doesn't work. I've tried booting without the hdd in and the drive and still the same. I've also tried a different psu from my 120gb slim and nothing. Any ideas? or should I just sell it for parts?

    Cheers all

Just an update. I believe it is the blu-ray drive. I have taken out the blu-ray drive and now the ps3 stays on, although no picture and can't get into safe mode. Any ideas guys?

I was advised to put 4 pennies on the chip just to see if that worked. Hey presto it rectified the issue, obviously that cant be good for it though. What I don't understand is when removing the drive it powers on and stays on with the green light but no picture. Put the drive back in powers down, put the pennies there and works flawlessly?
