is it worth paying the premium for 1080p

looking to buy the new samsung plasma with 1080p
...
but seems the q97 has v good reviews .. and is £500 cheaper..

am i bettr off saving the extra cash,
as it seems theer a very few "true" 1080p feeds available..

sd tv viewed via virgin+
ps3 for games and dvd and blue ray

thx help

I went through the same quandry very recently,1080p or i and after a lot of diliberation bought a Sammy 50" Q96 and to say I am bowled over is an understatement.

The problem with 1080p is as you say,lack of 1080p material to view other than some games and movies in blu ray/hddvd.Broadcast hd will not be in 1080p for years.

I think that 1080i tv's usually handle sd pictures better,so if that or Sky hd will be your main viewing go for the 1080i and with the money you save get yourself Sky HD.

Hi ,

Have to agree with last comment , did some thinking on this topic myself recently and went for cheaper Q97. But the price differance was near 1500 a few months ago.:eek:
