I have read a lot of the forum with much interest.

Everywhere there are people saying CRTs are better or LCDs are better.

I realise that LCD has the potential to be a lot better provided you have a good enough source.

    i.e. DVD through component etc.

This however will be my setup:

    Xbox
doggy chinese rip off DVD player with component out :)
Netgem iPlayer Freeview box with Component out - via Scart

    Sony HT-K250 speakers

This is what I have at the moment. My Freeview picture is pretty good.

I have been looking at getting a Philips 32" PW6518 or the equivalent 28" wide screen CRT. But my room is not that large and the CRT is massive.

Obviously the CRT is a lot cheaper - I think I can stretch to a Toshiba LCD Widescreen Television, 26WL46P, 26 Inch £800 - just, but my bank account will be dry.

My question is .. will my sources do justice for my LCD to justify getting it? I will mostly be watching TV only the occassional DVD - all regions.

I do not have any hidef sources and nor will I be getting Sky. Where do you get your hidef material anyway?

Or should I just spend £300 28" or £450 32" on a CRT and wait it out for cheaper better LCDs? or even OLED?

    Thanks.
