I have a Radeon 9500 pro Sapphire which works fine bit I bought far cry troday and wondered if it was worth downloading the latest drivers.
My PC spec is
ASNUS A7N8X Motherboard
512 DDR Ram (2700)
Radeon 9500 Pro
40 gig hard drive 7200 rpm
19 inch monitor CRT triniton

Is the PC a mid spec PC?

Hi,

I would say you have nothing to lose by updating your drivers.

Your spec seems about right for a 'mid spec PC' depending on CPU speed. I would say 2Ghz is about mid spec now.

Cheers

I have a Barton 2400. I was not sure if i should download the latest drivers as the saying goes if it's not broke dont fix it but thought the drivers might make the card better.

you can often find out the name of the lastest drivers and do a web search on them to find any user comments bad/good etc.

Most of the time driver updates incorperate fixes or performance updates - either in display quality or speed.
More often than not, when a new game comes out it assumes you are using the lastest driver sets - its always best to keep up to date with them.

Its not that difficult to remove and resintall earlier drivers should there be a problem.

I'm using the most up to date cat 4.3 drivers and have not had any problems running Far Cry:)
You could probably do with an extra 512mb of memory imo a lot people are noticing a bit of lag during play due to file swapping and a lot of the games coming out run a lot smoother with the extra memory.
I can run far cry at 1028x768 all maxed out graphically wise and it runs a treat (2xaa 4xaf). The only difference with my rig to yours is I've got 1024mb memory and a 9700pro.
The next generation off graphics cards will soon be with us though:)

Where can I download the lastest drivers for a radeon spaphire 9500 pro?
I am stuck in the game early on. I need to find a boat and the only one I can see is the one on the island bottom of the hill where you collect the binoculars from the hut.
I go in the boat pressed the use key but nothing happend.

I think everyone who runs a Radeon should use the Cat 4.3's or at least try them out. The release notes are detailing some very significant performance increases across the board which will be of considerable benefit as the more graphically intensive games start to hit the shelves. The performance increases are relative so don't expect giant leaps, they are reasonably impressive nonetheless.
