Somebody did make a posting on this some months ago, asking the same question. General comments were not positive. I don't think it's as good as the new MS309 (I think it's called) sub which is even cheaper than the Tannoy.

    It's a 15" sub!

Surely it must go lower than a 309.

I still don't think it's fair to compare the 2 subs.

I've never heard either, but the laws of physics dictate that the 15" sub will move substantially more air.

Has anybody actually heard the Tannoy sub?

I have a Vibe stealth beta sub which will go to 20hz, it's 8 months old, in black, remote control, mint condition for £300. I have the box and instructions.

It's a great sub, I wouldn't be selling it but I have just got a THX set up and want to keep the set matching.

If your interested in it then I will put in on the classifield section and you can get it through there. I'm based in leeds.

i don't think you'll find a sub for under £300 at the moment that truely gets below 20Hz - the MJ acoustics claim to but everyone seems to take that with enough salt to trigger heart attacks...

depends on whether you want a sub that is also good with music or just one that has plenty of slam.

In my room the XLS is reasonably flat down to 25 Hz but is 6dB lower at 20Hz.

This was measured using sine waves and after correcting for the Tandy SPL metre.

It will depend on where you position it though and other characteristics of your room. You might get higher output at low frequencies in a corner.
Mine is about 3 ft from corner along the front wall.

Doesn't sound very good down at 20Hz (distorted), but I've not heard an expensive sub playing a 20Hz sine wave so that may be normal.
