    Hi

I have a home theatre system (Sony DAVS880) but am unhappy with the bass level from the Sub even when turned up full. Can I just get more bass by throwing this speaker away and getting a better one? Cheers in advance for your responses to what must be a stupid question...it's can't be that simple...can it?

I would say witout knowing the way the sub was connected to the amp or if the amp is in the sub it might be possible to substitute the sony sub for a better one .

the speaker cable plugs into the back of the dvd player via a socket and the wire at the speaker end is just wirewhich goes into the usual red and black springy clips that you see on loads of speakers. Will this work?

So your saying all the speakers connect to the dvd inc the sub. If this is correct then yes it would be possible to buy a sub with high level inputs (speaker connections) and connect directly to the dvd player for more/better bass. :D

Does the Sony connect to the sub with standard speaker wire or a phono cable?
