The front plastic for the tray is missing?

I originally took it off to fit it in my Mac Pro in 2009 and now I want to stuck it in my windows pc but just want to check I won't go blind from the laser!!

It's a bluray writer so I'm reluctant to throw it away as their £100 ish new and my new case does have a door over the front

The laser in a Blu-ray is class 1 - the lowest rating.
Highest rating for 'eye safe' at 30cm is class 3B.

It's definitely safe to fit and use it as it is.
