Have been looking into getting an iPhone.

I can't take another contract as got too many running at the moment, I currently have a Samsung I8510, so completely different really.

I also own an iPod Touch, so know how the iPhone would function etc.

If I were to get one, I guess I'd buy one straight up.....but is it really worth it?

    Opinions please guys :)

I think everyone that has one would probably say yes, I did I have 12months left on my 18month contract and love t-mobiles Flext service, so I bought the iPhone on P&G from o2 store jailbroken it and unlocked it, sold my google phone for about £270 the iPhone cost me £359 so outright it cost me £89 for 8gb iPhone!! Not bad as the google phone i got upgraded on cost me nothing.
You could do the same and sell your Samsung not sure what sort of price they go for.....

Yeah that's what I thought about mate. Sell the Samsung and then just buy the iPhone on PAYG as I'm on an O2 contract anyway.

I have been using an unlocked iphone on voda for about 9+ months and love it. I am up for a new contract in April and will be going over to 02 on a proper contract. There are so many things that make it better. Recently it has been a life saver. I used handbrake to put some DVD's on it and they have kept my 4 year old amused when nothing else would. Brilliant

I've only had mine a month but I would definitely say YES! To be honest, I was literally blown away by mine when I had a good play with it. I'd used a mates before but obviously you can't fiddle too much with someone elses.
Out of the box it's amazing and SO easy and intuitive to use, I still haven't looked at the instructions. I think the Apps store is what puts it above similar devices. Sure, there's a lot of crap but there's also some awesome stuff. And a lot of it is free too!

I've got used to it now and just think of it as my "phone", which just so happens to be the best I've had. I imagine everyone in this part of the forums is going to say a similar thing.
Strangely, so many people I've spoken to at work say anyone they know who has one hates it!

You asked is it worth it, well in my opinion no, it is missing so many functions/features that ordinary phones have as standard. I too also have an i8510 and for pure features etc the iphone doesn't even come close, but there is something about the iphone - the interface, App. store etc means my i8510 just gathers dust and I always go back to the iphone.

Dave, get one and you won't regret it!

I've had mine for 3/4 months now and it's great!

Yeah there's certain thing you can't do like sending MMS but you can email pics no problem!

    Go and take the plunge!

PS- Tony79 has been trying to get hold off you to play your last game! :D

Had mine 2 weeks this Sat. Came from a Nokia N79 and N85. This blows them away. SO easy to use (dont say a word Gary :nono: :rotfl: ). I have 3 movies on it (Dark Knight, Transformers and Shooter), music etc. Can download You Tube videos direct. Wouldnt go back to a "regular" phone. And i always said i wouldnt touch one
Go for it, you wont regret it :smashin:

A 3G 16GB iPhone cost £400 to buy on PAYG. So why this price and is it an original  The seller has later added Chinese version.

MOD EDIT: no ebay links please

Okay the phone in question went for £560 and it was the Chinese version, where is the sense on paying over the odds for a phone :suicide:
I have also seen some iPhones listed as going for £1,000+

As Eddie has said, you would be mad to buy one from eBay when you can get a 16GB PAYG for £401 in the O2 shop. 20 mins later it can be jailkbroken and unlocked. Plus you've got the receipt if you need to return under warranty.

Most of the higher ebay prices are for genuine unlocked *not jailbroken* phones that Apple have to sell in various markets to appease local telecom regulators ... so you can use official software updates, etc but just on any network ...
